NYS Migrant Education

If you come here and something seems amiss just employ the Search feature at the top left of the screen. Type in a word or words that you are searching for and Search will go through every page on the site to locate what you are looking for.

In an effort to improve the appearance and functionality of the NYS Migrant Education web site, the Drupal Content Management System has been implemented. This is an open source content management system created by people interested in developing an efficient and appealing free software system to share community content.

If you want to learn more about Drupal please go to http://www.drupal.org Druppel is the Dutch word for "drop", as in a drop of water. A few students in Antwerp, Belgium were sharing an internet connection a few years ago and developed a system for "dropping" a message to each other.

When some of the students graduated they didn't want to break the bonds that they had formed so they made the system public and began sharing the technology that they had developed. In a typo of the word drop they hit upon "dorp" which means community in Dutch. Dorp? Drop? - so close... and in Dutch - drupal - the community of drupal contributors, creators and users has grown to the point that they have held international meetings in places like France, Canada and the USA.
